Paul Merson is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to secure a narrow 2-1 victory over West Ham United in Sunday’s Premier League clash at White Hart Lane.

Spurs head into the game against their London rivals looking to return to winning ways after they were held to a 1-1 draw by local rivals Arsenal at Emirates Stadium before the international break.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been in fine form in recent weeks and are currently fifth in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games.

And former Arsenal star Merson feels that the Lilywhites will have just too much for the Hammers at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.

Merson told Sky Sports: “I’ve been massively impressed by Tottenham and West Ham, but I don’t know if teams are getting used to playing Slaven Bilic’s side more, or if they’re getting a little bit tired after getting back early in pre-season into competitive action.

“They lost at Watford and drew at home to Everton. They can’t just turn up and expect to beat teams, nobody can do that this season. It is so unpredictable. And without Dimitri Payet we will see how Bilic adapts, he has been a huge player for them this season.

“Tottenham have been outstanding of late, and were brilliant at The Emirates the other week, and I can see them stealing this one.”

The Hammers, who are sixth in the table, are unbeaten in their last three trips to White Hart Lane in all competitions. Indeed, Spurs have only beaten West Ham once in their last five attempts in league and cup.
