Paul Scholes runs rule over Tottenham’s ‘top-class’ Harry Kane
Paul Scholes hails Tottenham Hotspur's 'top-class' Harry Kane after Sunday's draw with Chelsea
Paul Scholes has hailed Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as a “top-class centre-forward”.
Kane was unable to add to his tally of 10 goals in 19 games in the Premier League and Europa League as Spurs played out a goalless draw with Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
The England international had scored a remarkable nine goals in his last six games in all competitions before the visit of the defending champions.
Chelsea centre-halves Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma managed to keep Kane quiet in Sunday’s derby as Tottenham extended their unbeaten run to 13 games.
But former Manchester United midfielder Scholes was still impressed with Kane’s contribution in the stalemate.
“Harry worked hard which you’d expect,” Scholes told BT Sport.
“He was limited to his efforts. He had to do it all outside the cross. He is a top-class centre-forward. He works so hard and he has good quality as well.”
Tottenham are four points behind Premier League leaders Leicester City and Manchester City after their goalless stalemate.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men make the trip to West Bromwich Albion next weekend.
Spurs haven’t lost since a 1-0 defeat by Manchester United on the opening day of the season.
