Petr Cech sends message to Arsenal team-mates after West Brom loss
Petr Cech looks for the positives after Arsenal's 2-1 loss to West Brom on Saturday
Petr Cech insisted that there were plenty of positives for Arsenal despite the disappointment of their 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
The north London side took the lead through Olivier Giroud in the 28th minute against the Baggies, but James Morrison equalised shortly after to haul Tony Pulis’ men level.
Mikel Arteta endured an afternoon to forget as he netted an own goal five minutes before half-time to put the Baggies in control.
Arsenal pressed for an equaliser and were awarded a penalty late on after Alexis Sanchez was brought down in the box.
However, Santi Cazorla blazed the resulting spot-kick over the crossbar after he slipped during the run-up.
But despite the result, Cech insisted that there we plenty of positives to take from the game for the Gunners.
Cech told Arsenal’s website: “I think we don’t want to take credit from West Brom but across the 90 minutes we were the better side. We had chances and a lot of opportunities and we were unlucky as we scored an own goal.
“Apart of that, we were on top of them and looked like the side that was going to win the game, even in the second half. I thought when we had the penalty that we would still have a chance to search for the third goal but it was one of those games where it was not going our way.
“But I like our reaction and although everything went against us a bit, we kept going until the last minute and were still creating opportunities. We have to regroup and continue working.”
Arsenal return to action with a home clash against Dinamo Zagreb at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.
