Alexis Sanchez reveals his frustration at Chile's 3-0 loss to Uruguay via a post on Instagram
Alexis Sanchez could not hide his frustration after Chile slumped to a 3-0 loss to Uruguay in their World Cup qualifier on Tuesday night.
The match was an ill-tempered affair and four players from each team were booked before Chile’s Jorge Valdivia was sent off after the final whistle for confronting referee Wilmar Roldan.
Sanchez played the full 90 minutes during the World Cup qualifying clash and was clearly riled by the conduct of Uruguay’s players.
The Arsenal forward took to Instagram shortly after the game, posting the picture above of Chile celebrating their Copa America win in the summer and writing: “You need to know how to win and how to lose and I speak when I win and when I lose.
“But what annoys me about past and present and other Uruguayan players … is that they speak without acknowledging that they’ve lost.
“Today we lost and I congratulate them … it’s goodbye from the champions of the Americas.”
There will be concerns about Sanchez’s fitness after he was declared an injury doubt heading into the game but featured nonetheless.
Arsenal fans will be hoping that he will be fit and ready to return to action when they take on West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Sanchez has scored six Premier League goals in 12 outings for Arsene Wenger’s men this season.
