Bastian Schweinsteiger pays tribute to Marouane Fellaini and Chris Smalling as the Manchester United pair celebrated their birthdays on Sunday

Bastian Schweinsteiger has taken to social media to pay tribute to Marouane Fellaini and Chris Smalling as the Manchester United pair both celebrated their birthdays on Sunday.

Schweinsteiger helped United secure a dramatic 2-1 win over Watford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as he played his part in the Red Devils’ last-gasp winner at Vicarage Road.

Fellaini missed the game due to injury, but Smalling played the full 90 minutes in the victory, which lifted Louis van Gaal’s men up to second place in the Premier League table.

And United midfielder Schweinsteiger was quick to pay tribute to both Smalling, who turned 26, and Fellaini, who turned 28, by sending his birthday wishes to the pair via his personal Instagram account.

Schweinsteiger posted the picture above on the photo-sharing app and wrote: “All the best to our @manchesterunited birthday boys, @smalling and @fellaini. Have a great day! 🎊
