Manchester United defender Chris Smalling is thrilled to secure back-to-back wins in all competitions
Chris Smalling has congratulated Jesse Lingard on his first goal for Manchester United.
The 22-year-old scored United’s first Premier League goal in three games after he broke the deadlock in the 52nd-minute against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.
Louis van Gaal’s side, who had played out goalless draws with Manchester City and Crystal Palace ahead of Saturday’s clash, sealed three points on the stroke of full-time.
Juan Mata converted from the penalty spot after West Brom defender Gareth McAuley had brought down 19-year-old Anthony Martial in the Baggies penalty area.
And Smalling, who was named United’s player of the month for October, took to Twitter to send a message of congratulations to Lingard following his first United goal.
