Kevin Wimmer has endured an underwhelming start to his Tottenham Hotspur career.

The Austria international joined the north London side from Bundesliga outfit Cologne in the summer transfer window.

However, Wimmer has found it tough to dislodge fellow summer arrival Toby Aldwereirled, who has formed a brilliant centre-half partnership with Belgian compatriot Jan Vertonghen.

The 22-year-old defender is still waiting for his first taste of Premier League action as Mauricio Pochettino refuses to tinker with a defence that has conceded just eight times in 12 games.

However, Wimmer was in good spirits with his compatriots as the Spurs man trained with his Austria team-mates on Tuesday afternoon.

Wimmer made his first Tottenham appearance in their 2-1 loss to bitter rivals Arsenal in the League Cup third round in September.

The Austrian defender also featured in their 3-0 win against Qarabag in the Europa League earlier this season.
