Philip Neville may have played under Sir Alex Ferguson for a decade, but the retired defender still treasures an autograph from the former Manchester United manager.

The Valencia coach was involved in David Beckham’s charity Unicef match at Old Trafford on Saturday night, with Ferguson in charge of Great Britain and Ireland.

The retired Scot has recently released a new book called Leading, which as the title suggests, is a thorough examination of the leadership skills required to manage United.

Former England international Neville made sure to get Ferguson’s signature on his copy of the book.

Neville posted the above snap and wrote: “Nice gift off the boss yesterday!”

The retired defender quit United to join Everton in 2003 after a nine-year career in the Red Devils’s first-team squad.
