Bastian Schweinsteiger has played under some of football’s greatest manager.

The Manchester United midfielder is currently working with Louis van Gaal for the second time in his career, whilst the 31-year-old played under Pep Guardiola during his last two seasons at Allianz Arena.

But Schweinsteiger still has a major soft spot for his former Bayern Munich assistant manager Hermann Gerland, who has worked as Jupp Heynckes and Guardiola’s assistant.

And the United midfielder posted a snap with the Bayern coach on his Twitter feed on Wednesday evening.

The Bayern legend moved to United in a £6.7m deal from the Bundesliga side in the summer.

Schweinsteiger lasted the full 90 minutes of United’s 2-0 victory as the World Cup winner partnered Michael Carrick in midfield.

The Red Devils stay in fourth place but move to within a point of leaders Manchester City in the Premier League table.
