Bastian Schweinsteiger was left to savour a near-perfect Premier League day for the Manchester United midfielder on Instagram on Saturday night.

The World Cup winner’s effort was bundled into the Watford net by Hornets captain Troy Deeney to seal three points from the Red Devils in added time in the day’s early kick-off.

Whilst United were relegated to second place after Leicester City were 3-0 winners at Newcastle United, the Germany international could take solace after title rivals Arsenal lost 2-1 at West Brom.

And a pretty decent day got even better after Jurgen Klopp did his compatriot a favour and masterminded Liverpool’s emphatic 4-1 win against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium.

And it was no coincidence that Schweinsteiger took to Instagram shortly after the Citizens’s were put out of their misery by referee Jon Moss.

Schweinsteiger wrote: “What a great day! Enjoy your evening, everyone.”

The Red Devils are a point behind leaders Leicester ahead of their trip to King Power Stadium next weekend.
