Bastian Schweinsteiger admits that he was left shocked by the Paris terror attacks on Friday night

Bastian Schweisteiger has taken to social media to post an emotional update after he and his Germany team-mates were caught up in the Paris terror attacks on Friday night.

The Manchester United midfielder played the full 90 minutes at the Stade De France but could not prevent the world champions from slipping to a 2-0 loss to France following goals from Olivier Giroud and Andre-Pierre Gignac in the capital.

However, the friendly clash was overshadowed by the attacks that rocked Paris on Friday night, with more than 130 people reported dead in a series of shootings and bombings across the city.

There was a blast outside the stadium during the game which left one person dead, and the Germany squad were forced to spend the night inside the ground amid security fears following the game.

Now, Schweinsteiger has posted an update on his personal Instagram account following Friday’s traumatic events.

The Manchester United man shared the photo above on the app and wrote: “I am still speechless about what happened on Friday.

“My sincerest condolences to everybody who is affected by this terrible tragedy.

“My prayers also go out to all the people who lost their lives the day before in Beirut.

“No matter where you come from and what religion you follow – we are one. #PrayForParis #PrayForBeirut”
