Arsenal star Mesut Ozil sends a message to Gunners fans after a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur
Mesut Ozil has urged Arsenal to launch another assault on top spot after the international break after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.
Visitors Tottenham took the lead before half-time thanks to Harry Kane’s fifth goal in his last three games after the England striker latched onto Danny Rose’s pass and finished past Petr Cech.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger threw on left-back Gibbs in a desperate attempt to find an equaliser, and the 26-year-old guided Ozil’s cross past Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris with 13 minutes remaining.
The Gunners playmaker, who set a Premier League record after six assists in six games, took to Instagram to reflect on the north London derby on Sunday evening.
Ozil wrote on the photo-sharing app: “It’s a pity we didn’t win the derby today and moved up to P1 … but we are still neck and neck with the league leaders. Let’s start another attack after the international break! 💪⚽ #afcvthfc #Arsenal #Gunners #bpl”
The Germany international has scored one goal and has made 10 assists in 11 Premier League games for Arsene Wenger’s side this season.
The 27-year-old midfielder moved to Arsenal from La Liga giants Real Madrid in a £42.5m deal in August 2013.
