Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard congratulates Jordon Ibe on Europa League winner

Steven Gerrard has sent a message of congratulations to Liverpool match-winner Jordon Ibe.

The Reds teenager scored a 52nd-minute winner to secure a 1-0 victory over Rubin Kazan for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Ibe’s goal was his first of the season and sealed the Merseyside outfit’s first win of the Europa League campaign after three successive draws.

And the 19-year-old’s former captain Steven Gerrard wasted no time taking to Instagram to hail the England Under-21 international’s winner.

Gerrard wrote on the photo-sharing app: “Congratulations mate @jordon_ibe ⚽️ 👍”

Liverpool are in second place and two points behind leaders Sion in the Europa League Group B after their 1-0 victory over Rubin Kazan.

The Reds host Ligue 1 side Bordeuax in their next European fixture at Anfield on 26 November.

Klopp’s side can secure back-to-back Premier League wins on Merseyside on Sunday when Crystal Palace make the trip to Anfield.
