Thibaut Courtois is closing in on a return to action with Chelsea in the coming weeks

Thibaut Courtois has handed Chelsea a timely boost ahead of Saturday’s clash against Norwich by revealing that he is back in first-team training with the Blues.

The goalkeeper is on course to return to action for Chelsea in December after undergoing knee ligament surgery earlier in the season.

The Belgium international is now stepping up his recovery as he works on his fitness in a bid to be completely ready for the hectic festive period.

And Courtois used his personal Instagram account to share some good news with his followers on Friday evening.

Courtois posted the picture above on the photo-sharing app and wrote: “Training ⚽️”

Asked about a possible return date for Courtois, Jose Mourinho told a news conference on Friday afternoon: “December. Between the first and the last day of December.

Chelsea, who are 16th in the table, take on Norwich at Stamford Bridge looking to return to winning ways in the top flight after their 1-0 loss to Stoke City before the international break.
