John Terry enjoyed some downtime away from football on Wednesday night as he went to see Romeo and Juliet at the Royal Opera House with his wife Toni.

The Chelsea captain will have been keen to distract himself from the Blues’ disastrous start to the Premier League season, and headed to central London with his partner to soak up some culture in midweek.

Terry is expected to be given some time off during the international break after he and his Chelsea team-mates were left to reflect on their 1-0 loss to Stoke on Saturday.

And the former England international looked to be in good spirits as he enjoyed the show with his partner.

Terry shared the pictures above on his personal Instagram account and wrote: “Amazing night with @toni26terry ❤️ Royal Opera House. Romeo and Juliet.”

Saturday’s loss to Stoke left Chelsea down in 16th place in the Premier League table and just three points above the relegation zone.

The Blues host Norwich City on 21 November after the international break.
