Photos: Daniel Sturridge and Lucas Leiva welcome Liverpool legend home

Daniel Sturridge and Lucas Leiva are all smiles alongside Steven Gerrard

Daniel Sturridge and Lucas Leiva couldn’t hide their delight to have Steven Gerrard back with the Liverpool squad on Monday morning.

The England centurion left the Merseyside outfit in the summer after a distinguished 17-year career, swapping his rain-drenched hometown for sunny Los Angeles.

However, Gerrard has been given permission by the new Liverpool manager to train with the Liverpool squad following the conclusion of LA Galaxy’s Major League Soccer campaign.

However, the Champions League winner has already ruled out a potential return to Liverpool on a short-term loan.

While Gerrard’s move is permanent, Liverpool striker Sturridge was thrilled to train alongside his former England captain at Melwood on a rain-soaked Monday morning.

The legend is back 👌🏾😎 @stevengerrard

Lucas is one of the most-experienced players in Jurgen Klopp’s squad following Gerrard’s exit and the departure of defender Glen Johnson in the summer.

And the Brazilian was also happy to catch up with his old pal.

Good to have you back my friend !!!🔝👏🏻👊⚽️
