Piers Morgan blames loss at West Brom on Arsenal midfielder

Piers Morgan hits out at Mikel Arteta after Arsenal slump to a 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns

Piers Morgan could not hide his frustration as Arsenal slumped to a disappointing 2-1 loss to West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners took the lead through Olivier Giroud in the 28th minute against the Baggies, but James Morrison equalised shortly after to haul Tony Pulis’ men level.

Arsene Wenger was forced to bring on Mikel Arteta in the 15th minute after Francis Coquelin picked up an injury early on in the game.

And the Spaniard endured an afternoon to forget as he netted an own goal five minutes before half-time to put the Baggies in control.

Arteta himself was then substituted in the 49th minute after he picked up an injury and was replaced by Mathieu Flamini.

Arsenal pressed for an equaliser and were awarded a penalty late on after Alexis Sanchez was brought down in the box.

However, Santi Cazorla blazed the resulting spot-kick over the crossbar after he slipped during the run-up.

Celebrity Arsenal Morgan was less-than-impressed by Arteta’s role in Saturday’s defeat, and also criticised striker Joel Campbell.

Here is a series of his tweets as the action unfolded:
