Pochettino gives latest Tottenham injury update ahead of West Ham clash
Nabil Bentaleb is set to miss Tottenham's clash with West Ham due to an ankle injury
Nabil Bentaleb is set to miss Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with West Ham United on Sunday due to an injury picked up while on international duty.
The midfielder has not featured for the north London side since the draw against Everton on August 29 but returned for Algerian duty against Tanzania in World Cup qualifying on Tuesday, only to pick up an ankle injury early on in the game.
Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Bentaleb suffered an injury setback while on international duty and is a doubt for Sunday’s clash with the Hammers at White Hart Lane.
Pochettino told a news conference at Spurs’ training ground on Friday morning: “I think everyone knows that Nabil got a bad tackle in the first minute of Algeria’s game against Tanzania and he’s not 100 per cent.
“We need to be sure. He’ll work hard to get back as soon as possible but it’s difficult for him on Sunday.”
Meanwhile, Erik Lamela also misses out as he serves a one-game suspension after receiving his fifth yellow card of the season at Arsenal before the international break.
Nacer Chadli (ankle) and Alex Pritchard (ankle) remain sidelined for the Lilywhites.
Spurs are currently fifth in the Premier League table.
