Ray Wilkins reacts to Paul Merson’s claim that Chelsea will finish above Man United

Ray Wilkins rejects Paul Merson's claim that Chelsea will finish above Manchester United this season

Ray Wilkins has rejected Paul Merson’s claim that Chelsea will finish above Manchester United in the Premier League this season.

The former Arsenal star boldly predicted that the Blues would rediscover some of their better form in the coming weeks and climb their way up the table to finish above Louis van Gaal’s Red Devils.

However, with Chelsea languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table and just three points above the relegation zone, Wilkins has expressed his doubt that the west Londoners will be able to secure a top-four finish this season.

Wilkins said on Sky Sports News HQ: “I like listening to Paul, but on this occasion I disagree.

“I see them finishing top six, top seven. It will tough to catch them [their rivals] up.”
