Ray Wilkins: Why Tottenham have great chance to finish in top four

Ray Wilkins believes Tottenham Hotspur can capitalise on the poor form of their top-four rivals

Tottenham Hotspur have a great chance to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season, according to Ray Wilkins.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are in fifth place in the Premier League table but a mere five points behind leaders Manchester City ahead of the visit of West Ham United on 22 November.

Tottenham drew 1-1 with bitter rivals Arsenal in last weekend’s north London derby after Kieran Gibbs cancelled out Harry Kane’s first-half opener at Emirates Stadium.

Spurs are unbeaten in 11 Premier League games since a 1-0 defeat by Manchester United on the opening day of the season at Old Trafford.

Former Chelsea and United midfielder Wilkins backed Tottenham to capitalise on the poor form of their top-four rivals Chelsea and Liverpool.

“They do have a fantastic opportunity this year, pure and simply (because) the others around them aren’t really performing,” Wilkins told talkSPORT.

Tottenham have earned 20 points from a possible 36 after 12 Premier League.
