Ray Wilkins: Why Jose Mourinho will be Chelsea manager at end of season
Former Chelsea midfielder Ray Wilkins is confident Jose Mourinho will stay at Stamford Bridge
Jose Mourinho will still be at Chelsea at the end of the season, according to former Blues midfielder Ray Wilkins.
The 52-year-old was offered some respite from the relentless speculation surrounding his job on Wednesday night after Willian scored the winner in a 2-1 victory over Dynamo Kyiv.
Mourinho’s men make the daunting trip to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City on Saturday evening as the west London side look to end a two-game losing run in the Premier League.
And Wilkins, who worked as Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant at Chelsea, believes Mourinho’s love of the English capital will keep the Portuguese coach at Chelsea.
“I think he will still be the manager at the end of the season,” Wilkins told talkSPORT.
“He loves Chelsea itself, but he loves London, I think, even more.
“That’s the big draw for him, I think, still living in London.”
Chelsea suffered a 3-1 loss to bitter rivals Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League last weekend.
The defending Premier League champions have already lost six times in 11 top-flight outings this season.
The Blues crashed out of the League Cup after a penalty shootout defeat by Stoke at The Britannia last month.
