Roy Keane: Why Man United winger Ashley Young is absolute disgrace
Roy Keane says if Ashley Young is a Manchester United player, the former Irish captain is 'a Chinaman'
Roy Keane has slammed Ashley Young after the Manchester United winger’s latest diving controversy.
The England international took a theatrical tumble to the turf during the 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow, as Wayne Rooney headed home a 79th minute winner to hand Louis van Gaal’s men a crucial Champions League victory at Old Trafford.
That shouldn’t be accepted at Man United. That’s absolutely disgraceful
Young has earned a reputation for diving since his move to the 20-time English champions in 2011, and former United midfielder Paul Scholes slammed the 30-year-old for his simulation during the Champions League tie.
And former Red Devils captain Keane didn’t hold back in his assessment of the incident involving Young, questioning whether the winger is good enough to play for United.
“Far too many times,” Keane told ITV Sport. “I think the guy’s a disgrace and if he’s a Man United player I’m a Chinaman.
“Absolute disgrace, he’s done it far too many times. Look at that. Absolute disgrace. And I just hope players are getting a hold of him, whether it be the manager or some of the senior players.
“That shouldn’t be accepted at Man United. That’s absolutely disgraceful.”
United now turn their attentions back to the Premier League and hosting West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Van Gaal’s men, who were held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace last weekend, head into the game in fourth place in the table and four points behind the leaders.
