Bad news for Liverpool as Sergio Aguero targets Man City comeback
Sergio Aguero is confident that he will be fit for Manchester City's showdown with Liverpool on 21 November
Sergio Aguero is hopeful of being fit to face Liverpool when Manchester City host Jurgen Klopp’s men at Anfield after the international break.
The Citizens are preparing to host the Reds at Etihad Stadium on Saturday 21 November as they look to return to winning ways following their goalless draw at Aston Villa at the weekend.
Aguero has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since the 6-1 thrashing of Newcastle United back at the start of October.
However, the Argentina international is confident that he will be fit to face Liverpool in City’s next Premier League clash after the international break.
Aguero told City’s website: “I don’t think I’m too far away now.
“Physically, I feel good and I’ve kept as fit as I can during my lay-off.
“I still need to work hard for another week and if not this week, then maybe next, I hope to start training with the rest of the lads and so my target is Liverpool.
“I’ll take things slowly and not rush into anything, but I’m not far away.”
The 27-year-old forward has scored six Premier League goals in eight appearances in the top flight for Manuel Pellegrini’s men so far this season. He has also netted once in the Champions League.
City head into their clash with Liverpool top of the Premier League table and level on points with second-placed Arsenal.
