Steven Gerrard says he is looking forward to learning from Jurgen Klopp over the next couple of weeks, but has ruled out a return to Liverpool on loan.

The Reds skipper has returned to England following the completion of the midfielder’s first season in Major League Soccer after the 35-year-old joined LA Galaxy in the summer.

The former England and Liverpool skipper is set to train with his former team-mates over the next couple of weeks, but he insisted a return to competitive action for the Reds wasn’t on the cards.

“Next week. I’m going to go in for a couple of weeks and work with Mr Klopp. I’m really looking forward to that and seeing what I can learn from him,” BT Sport pundit Gerrard said.

Asked if he could return on loan, Gerrard added: “Nope.”

Liverpool were 4-1 winners at Manchester City on Saturday evening in what Gerrard’s former team-mate Jamie Carragher described as the Reds’s best away win the Premier League era.

The Reds face Bordeaux in the Europa League on Thursday night ahead of the visit of Swansea City in the Premier League next Sunday afternoon.
