Thierry Henry sends warning to Arsenal star Mesut Ozil

Thierry Henry says Mesut Ozil must deliver on a weekly basis if he is to help Arsenal win the title this season

Thierry Henry has warned Mesut Ozil that he must star performing “week in, week out” for Arsenal if he is to help Arsene Wenger’s men mount a serious title challenge.

The World Cup winner continued his fine form for the Gunners on Sunday by setting up Kieran Gibbs’ equaliser as Arsenal came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw against bitter local rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Emirates Stadium.

In setting up Gibbs, Ozil became the first player in Premier League history to notch up assists in six consecutive top flight games.

However, despite his recent good form for the Gunners, with Ozil having made a total of 11 assists in the Premier League this season, Henry feels that the playmaker will need to continue his good form for the rest of the campaign if he is to help Arsenal win their first title since 2004.

Henry told Sky Sports before Sunday’s north London derby: “It is not just about the quality of the player but how often he can deliver and he is starting to deliver week in week out.”

Earlier this month, Henry told Sky Sports of Ozil: “We all know his quality; he is a World Cup winner; his touch is second to none; he has vision; he shares… everything is there. The only thing you can say, in all fairness, is that before he wasn’t doing it on a consistent basis. Now, he looks like he’s doing it every game so you have to give him credit.”
