Mousa Dembele has described the current Tottenham Hotspur squad as the best he has seen during his time at the club.

The north London side are gearing up for their Premier League clash with West Ham United at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon as the Lilywhites look for a victory to keep pace with the sides above them in the table.

Spurs are currently fifth in the top flight and head into the game against the Hammers on the back of their 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Emirates Stadium before the international break.

Mauricio Pochettino has been charged with guiding Spurs back into the Champions League this season, and Dembele has been thoroughly impressed by what he has seen from the Lilywhites so far this term.

Dembele told Sky Sports News HQ: “This is best team I’ve played in since I’ve been at Tottenham. Pochettino is very much aware of the way we play, the way we press and our mentality. He is trying to change the culture of the club and that was needed.

“Every year you have to have the feeling to achieve the Champions League otherwise we should stop playing football. We know we have a lot of quality and we’re closer than previous years. Of course we’ve had a taste that we can reach the Champions League but we have to be focused game by game to achieve that.

“We are not thinking too much ahead. We have a good feeling at the moment so we are capable of doing anything, we just need to stay strong and focused all the time instead of thinking about where we can end up.”

A win for Spurs against the Hammers would move them to within two points of local rivals Arsenal in the table.
