Alli has scored two goals in 10 Premier League appearances for Pochettino’s men in his first season in the English top-flight.

Speaking to Sky Sports after their win against Villa, Pochettino says the England international needs to be pushed even more after his impressive start to the season.

“We need to provide him with the tools to improve his game,” Pochettino told Sky Sports.

“He’s young – I always repeat that the young players need to stay with their feet on the grass. This is very important, but when you have quality like he has, you need to push him, to put pressure and try to improve his game.

“But I’m very pleased with him and the whole team.”

The 19-year-old has scored two goals and made one assist in 14 appearances in all competitions for the north London side this term.

England starlet Alli completed a £5m move to Tottenham from League One side MK Dons in the summer transfer window.
