It was a night to forget for Arsenal on Wednesday as Bayern Munich secured a thumping 5-1 win over the Gunners at the Allianz Arena to leave them on the brink of Champions League elimination.

Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and David Alaba put the home side up 3-0 heading into half-time as Arsenal had a Mesut Ozil goal ruled out for offside.

Arjen Robben made it 4-0 shortly after the break, and Olivier Giroud netted a volley in the 69th minute to pull one back for the Gunners.

However, Muller’s neat finish after a sweeping Bayern counter-attack added gloss to the scoreline as Pep Guardiola’s men secured a thumping victory.

The game prompted plenty of activity on Twitter after – and here are some of our favourite updates.
