Manchester United were left sweating on the fitness of Anthony Martial on Wednesday after the France international was pictured leaving Tuesday’s friendly clash with England on crutches.

The 19-year-old was substituted after 67 minutes at Wembley after appearing to pick up an ankle problem in the second half of England’s 2-0 win over Les Bleus.

Speaking after the game, France boss Didier Deschamps moved to play down fears about Martial’s fitness, describing the problem as just a “knock”.

However, the video above has since emerged on social media showing Martial leaving Wembley on crutches after Tuesday night’s game.

United fans will be hoping that Martial will be fit to feature when Louis van Gaal’s men return to Premier League action with a trip to Watford on Saturday lunchtime.

The Red Devils are currently fourth in the Premier League table and two points behind leaders Manchester City after 12 games.

Goals from Dele Alli and Wayne Rooney wrapped up victory for the hosts on an emotional night in north London as players and fans united to honour the victims of the Paris attacks.
