Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey heaps praise on the club's record-signing Mesut Ozil

Aaron Ramsey has backed Mesut Ozil to continue his excellent form in 2016 ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.

The Germany international scored a goal and made an assist in the north London side’s 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Monday night which sealed top spot in the Premier League.

Ozil, who moved to the Gunners from Real Madrid in a £42.5m deal in 2013, has already netted three times and has made 16 assists in 18 Premier League games for Arsene Wenger’s side so far this season.

Wales international Ramsey heaped praise on the Arsenal midfielder for his form this season before he backed the World Cup winner to continue his run going in the new year.

“He is a fantastic player with fantastic qualities,” Ramsey told Arsenal TV.

“He has shown that this season with the amount of assists and goals that he has scored. Hopefully he can continue to do that in 2016 as well.”

Ozil has scored five times and has made 16 assists in 24 games in all competitions so far this season.
