Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Why Arsenal can trust Mesut Ozil
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain runs the rule over Arsenal's in-form Mesut Ozil
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says Arsenal can rely on “quality” Mesut Ozil.
The Germany international made his 13th assist of the Premier League season so far after Ozil unselfishly teed up Aaron Ramsey for the north London side’s second goal in a 2-0 win at Aston Villa.
Mesut has always been a quality player at Arsenal and this year he has been amazing so let’s hope he can keep it up
The World Cup winner has been in scintillating form for Wenger’s side after scoring two goals and making seven assists in his last 10 appearances in all competitions.
And England international Oxlade-Chamberlain explained why the north London side can rely on their club-record signing to help the Gunners produce moments of quality.
“This year he has been a real focal part of the side and I think that has helped his confidence,” Oxlade-Chamberlain told Arsenal’s website.
“We know that if we can give Mesut the ball, we can trust that he will make things happen time after time.
“He has always been an unbelievable player and a player I have admired for a number of years before he came here and even when he has been at Arsenal he has always shown the quality.
“I just think his quality is coming out a bit more. Obviously he has a couple of good players around him to help him but that has really helped him to come out and show how good he is, week in and week out. Mesut has always been a quality player at Arsenal and this year he has been amazing so let’s hope he can keep it up.”
The 27-year-old has scored two goals and has made 13 assists in 15 Premier League appearances for the north London outfit so far this term.
The Gunners midfielder has won back-to-back FA Cups since the German playmaker moved to Arsenal in his record deal from Los Blancos.
The north London side host title rivals Manchester City in their next Premier League game.
