Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez had some positive news on Monday as he continues his recovery from his hamstring injury
Alexis Sanchez has taken to social media to thank his fans and Arsenal team-mates for their support after he was named as the 2015 Player of the Year by the Football Supporters’ Federation.
The forward is currently back home in his native Chile as he continues his rehabilitation from the hamstring injury he picked up during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Norwich City last month.
However, the 26-year-old used his personal Instagram account to thank his fans after he beat off competition from the likes of runner-up Jamie Vardy, Sergio Aguero, David De Gea, Harry Kane and John Stones.
More than 180,000 votes were cast in this year’s awards – previous winners include Luis Suarez (2013) and Aguero (2014).
Sanchez shared the photo above on the app and wrote: “Thanks to the Football Supporters’ Federation for voting me Player of the Year 2015!
“And thanks to all my team mates, without you it would be impossible. Let’s go Gunners!!!”
The Chile international has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers this season and has scored nine goals in all competitions for Wenger’s men.
Sanchez is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks with the muscular strain, with Arsenal fans hoping he will be back by the end of December for the hectic festive schedule in the Premier League.
