Tottenham’s loss to the Magpies was their first defeat in the Premier League since the opening day of the season when Mauricio Pochettino’s side lost 1-0 at Manchester United.
The Argentine left Southampton for Spurs in May 2014, and Pochettino’s successor Ronald Koeman led the Saints to their best-ever Premier League finish last season.
Former Aston Villa and Everton forward Gray is tipping 12th-placed Saints to leave their ex-manager frustrated on Saturday afternoon.
Gray told Paddy Power: “Spurs will want to return to form after that poor result last week, the way to do that is to go away to a difficult place and play well, but this is tricky. Koeman has his team on the right track, a score draw is on the cards.”
Tottenham are in fifth place in the Premier League table and are nine points behind surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City.
