Anthony Martial says Manchester United have to win their next game against Stoke City on 26 December
Anthony Martial has reflected on a bitter-sweet Saturday afternoon after the striker celebrated his latest award with a goal in a 2-1 defeat by Norwich City.
The France international was presented with Tuttosport’s Golden Boy award before kick-off and the 20-year-old looked the most-likely United player to make something happen against a resilient Canaries side.
Martial scored his first Premier League goal since 20 September in a 3-2 win at Southampton when the former Lyon striker finished from close range after Norwich duo Cameron Jerome and Alex Tettey had scored at Old Trafford.
And the summer signing warned his United team-mates that Louis van Gaal’s squad have to win their next game against Mark Hughes’s Stoke City side at Britannia Stadium on Boxing Day.
Martial wrote on his Instagram page: “Disappointed Today we lost but we had to win the next game.. And thank you so much for this trophy”
The French youngster moved to United in a £36m deal from Ligue 1 side Monaco on the final day of the summer transfer window.
Martial has scored four goals in 13 Premier League games so far this season.
