Arsenal legend sends Alexis Sanchez warning to Arsene Wenger
Charlie Nicholas tells Arsene Wenger not to play Alexis Sanchez in Arsenal's clash with Manchester City unless he is completely fit
Charlie Nicholas has told Arsene Wenger not to risk playing Alexis Sanchez in Arsenal’s crunch Premier League clash with Manchester City on Monday night – unless the Chilean is 100 per cent fit.
Wenger revealed on Thursday that there was a very small chance the forward, who turned 27 on Saturday, could make his return against the Citizens in the title clash in north London next week.
Sanchez has been out of action since suffering a hamstring injury during the second half of the 1-1 draw with Norwich City last month.
He is now closing in on a return to action and will likely be desperate to play against the Citizens if there is a chance he could feature.
However, former Arsenal star Nicholas feels that it would be foolish for Wenger to risk playing Sanchez if he is not deemed to be completely fit for the game.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday, Nicholas said: “With Sanchez on the verge of coming back, if he’s not 100 per cent I would not risk him. I would keep Walcott in the team.”
Arsenal head into the game one point ahead of City.
