Arsenal midfielder delivers latest injury update
Santi Cazorla delivers the latest update on his knee injury as the Arsenal midfielder continues his recovery
Santi Cazorla is expecting to be out of action for between three to four months as the Arsenal midfielder continues his recovery from a knee injury.
The Spaniard has been sidelined since suffering the problem during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Norwich City last month and was initially expected to be out for around three months.
Cazorla had been a regular fixture in Arsenal’s first team this season before his injury setback.
And the Spain international has now revealed that he is hoping to be back in action in three months.
Speaking on Cadena Cope, Cazorla said: “I am trying to take it well. These are the things that happen in football and I am trying to recover as soon as possible.
“I have to be ready mentally to work and hopefully I can shorten the recovery time as much as possible.
“I do not want to set a time but I want to play in three months. I do not want to extend it more if it is possible. Arsenal have told me it will be between three and four months, which may be closer to four.
“I have already said that I will work hard, I want to make everything I can to play in March but we will see how it goes. We are not going to force it if is going to be bad. But my priority is to play in March.”
“The club have told me to be calm and that when I return we will be in the finals (laughs). I hope so. The important thing is that the team do well and I recover as soon as possible.”
Cazorla has made 14 Premier League appearances for Arsenal so far this season to help the north London side up to second place in the table and just two points behind leaders Leicester City.
Arsenal, who beat Aston Villa 2-0 at the weekend, are now preparing for their crunch Premier League clash with Manchester City on Monday night.
