Arsenal man confirms he is thinking about exit in January transfer window
Mathieu Debuchy confirms that he is considering seeking a transfer away from Arsenal in January
Mathieu Debuchy has confirmed that he is considering seeking a transfer away from Arsenal in January as he looks to play more first-team football.
Debuchy has found his first-team opportunities at Arsenal severely restricted in recent months after falling behind youngster Hector Bellerin in the pecking order at Emirates Stadium.
The 30-year-old has made just seven first-team appearances for Arsenal this season and was on the losing side as Arsene Wenger’s men slumped to a humiliating 5-1 loss to Bayern Munich last month.
He also featured during the 1-1 draw with Tottenham due to Bellerin being sidelined with a groin problem but was substituted after 77 minutes, before coming on late on in the 3-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Now, the defender has confirmed that he is considering his options as he looks to gain more regular playing time.
Debuchy is quoted as saying by Metro: “I’ll look at the offers to move. I love England and the football here, but why not return to France?
“In the summer Arsene Wenger told me we’d talk if I was not happy with my situation in December.
“It is now December. I’m waiting to talk to the boss.
“Of course I would be disappointed not to make the Euros, it’s probably my last chance to play in such a situation.”
Arsenal taken on Olympiacos in the Champions League on Wednesday.
