Arsenal transfers: Claudio Ranieri rules out Riyad Mahrez exit
Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri says Arsenal target Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy won't leave in January
Claudio Ranieri insists Leicester City stars Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy won’t be sold in the January transfer window.
The England international broke the deadlock with his 15th goals in 16 Premier League games against the defending champions at King Power Stadium on Monday night.
Reported Arsenal target Mahrez doubled the home side’s lead with a brilliant individual strike after half-time before Loic Remy netted a late consolation for Chelsea in a 2-1 defeat.
Mahrez has been touted as a potential signing for Arsenal in the January transfer window after the Algeria international scored his 11th goal of the season so far.
However, Leicester manager Raneiri was emphatic in his stance that Mahrez and Vardy won’t be sold in the January transfer window despite interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.
“No-one can buy Vardy or Mahrez in January. They don’t have the money and they don’t have a price,” Ranieri told his post-match media conference after Leicester’s 2-1 win against Chelsea.
The 24-year-old has scored 11 goals and has made seven assists in 15 Premier League games for the Foxes this season so far.
