Arsenal have transfer funds for Arsene Wenger to spend, says Gunners legend
Arsenal legend Liam Brady confirms the Gunners have money in the bank to spend in January transfer window
Liam Brady says Arsene Wenger will have transfer funds available to spend to strengthen his Arsenal squad in the January transfer window.
The Gunners booked their place in the Champions League last 16 thanks to a brilliant 3-0 victory over Olympiacos in Greece on Wednesday night.
Arsene Wenger’s squad is starting look threadbare with first-team players such as Alexis Sanchez, Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere all injured.
Speaking during RTE’s Champions League coverage, former Manchester United midfielder Eamonn Dunphy put the Arsenal legend on the spot when he urged the Gunners to spend in January.
“They have an incentive to go out and buy a couple of players in the transfer window because Liam has told me confidentially and it can’t go outside the studio that they have the money in the bank for Arsene to spend,” Dunphy said.
“So, ‘Brady urges Wenger to spend’.”
Responding to Dunphy’s comments, Brady said: “The money is in the bank, whether Arsenal should spend it, I’m not getting involved!”
Brady stepped down as the director of Arsenal’s youth academy in 2014.
However, the former Republic of Ireland international remains an ambassador for the Arsenal Foundation.
The former Juventus winger was part of Arsenal’s FA Cup-winning side in 1979.
