Arsenal have been touted by many to be serious Premier League title contenders this season and the Gunners are currently top of the Premier League table on goal difference.

The FA Cup holders have suffered a number of injuries to key midfield players in recent weeks, with the likes of Francis Coquelin joining Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere on the sidelines.

And speaking at a news conference at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground on Wednesday morning, Wenger admitted that he is looking to bolster his midfield options ahead of the second half of the season.

Wenger said: “I will be busy [in the January transfer window] for sure. I am already [busy].

“I said already one month ago we are a bit short at the moment to deal with all the competitions we face, especially in midfield. I will be busy, yes.”

Arsenal have been reported to be close to signing midfielder Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel in recent days.
