Arsene Wenger hints Arsenal could be busy in January transfer window
Arsene Wenger discusses his plans for Arsenal in the forthcoming January transfer window
Arsene Wenger has hinted that he could be ready to splash the cash in the January transfer window as he looks to bolster his Arsenal squad for a Premier League title challenge.
The Gunners have inevitably been linked with a host of players in recent weeks as the mid-season window looms large.
I will go out there and see what we can do
Arsenal are second in the table heading into Sunday’s clash at Aston Villa and have been tipped by many to be serious title contenders this season – especially if Wenger were to add to his squad next month.
The Frenchman was quizzed about his plans for the forthcoming transfer window at his weekly news briefing at Arsenal’s training ground on Friday morning – and although he ruled out moves for Victor Wanyama and Karim Benzema, he insisted that he is open to bringing in reinforcements next month.
Wenger said: “I will go out there and see what we can do.
“But at the moment we have a whole December to go in a good position in the Premier League.
“So it is important for me that we don’t lose more payers because we are short and that everybody contributes fully, like we did on Saturday and Wednesday, and have that consistency in January.”
Arsenal secured their spot in the last 16 of the Champions League with a 3-0 win at Olympiacos on Wednesday night.
