Arsene Wenger says Arsenal are hoping to have Alexis Sanchez back available in the coming days
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Arsenal are hopeful of having Alexis Sanchez back available before Christmas as the hectic festive schedule looms large.
Sanchez is currently recovering in his native Chile after suffering a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Norwich City last month.
The 26-year-old was initially expected to be sidelined for a few weeks as he bids to regain his fitness as quickly as possible.
And although Sanchez will definitely miss Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa, Wenger revealed that he is hoping he will be back available shortly ahead of a busy end to the year for the Gunners.
Speaking at a news conference at Arsenal’s training ground on Friday morning, Wenger said: “[Arsenal have] no new injuries. Sanchez is the shortest one, the rest will be back after Christmas.”
Sanchez watched his Arsenal team-mates book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday night as they secured a thrilling 3-0 win over Olympiacos in Greece.
The Chile international has scored six goals and made one assist in 14 Premier League games this season.
