Bastian Schweinsteiger has a Christmas message for Manchester United supporters
Bastian Schweinsteiger has sent a Christmas message to Manchester United supporters ahead of their Boxing Day trip to Stoke City.
The Red Devils midfielder is hoping to secure a spot in Louis van Gaal’s starting line-up for Saturday’s game at the Britannia Stadium after the Germany international was suspended for last weekend’s 2-1 defeat by Norwich City.
Schweinsteiger’s manager Van Gaal is in desperate need of three points after United’s surprise loss to the Canaries extended their winless run to six games in all competitions ahead of their Boxing Day clash.
While the German legend wished his followers a happy Christmas, most United fans will settle for a vital three points after back-to-back Premier League defeats by promoted sides Bournemouth and Norwich.
Schweinsteiger wrote on his Instagram page: “Merry #Christmas everyone and best wishes from Manchester!”
The 31-year-old has already become an established member of Van Gaal’s first-team following his £6.7m move to United from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
Schweinsteiger scored his first United goal in a 1-1 draw with leaders Leicester City last month.
