Ex-Chelsea star makes bold prediction about Diego Costa’s future
Mark Bosnich reckons that it's the beginning of the end for Diego Costa at Chelsea
Mark Bosnich believes that Diego Costa’s tantrum during Chelsea’s goalless draw at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday could spell the beginning of the end of his career with the Blues.
Jose Mourinho opted not to use the forward during the game and instead chose to deploy Eden Hazard up front for the west London side.
Costa expressed his frustration at not playing by throwing his training bib towards Mourinho on the bench after it became clear he wasn’t going to be involved.
The Spain international has struggled to find consistent form for Chelsea this season, like many of his Blues team-mates.
And former Chelsea shot-stopper Bosnich believes that Costa’s career is likely to be over.
Bosnich told talkSPORT: “It didn’t look good. Generally when you are with a manager and you do that type of thing, it is the beginning of the end.
“Not going out for the warm-up, I can understand that completely, but throwing the bib at the manager during the game points to one way.
“They probably won’t do it immediately but I really do think it is the beginning of the end, which is really unfortunate because he has been a smash hit since he has been at Chelsea.”
Sunday’s draw left Chelsea in 14th place in the Premier League and 14 points behind leaders Manchester City after a stuttering start to the season for Jose Mourinho’s men.
The Blues host Bournemouth on Saturday.
