Ozil has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers in recent months and has notched up 12 assists in the top flight for his Gunners team-mates so far this season.
Ramsey has also been a regular fixture in Arsenal’s first team this season, with the 24-year-old having scored two goals and made one assist in 11 Premier League games for the north London side.
However, Bellamy feels that Ramsey has the potential to develop into one of the best midfielders in the world and says that Arsene Wenger should consider favouring the Wales international for the central midfield role.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Bellamy said: “It’s not just me being biased, I’ve known Aaron since he was five years of age.
“I would play him centrally before I’d play Ozil. I know that’s a big statement at this present moment [because of Ozil’s good form].
“But I just feel that centrally, he is one of the top players in world football when he’s fit. That was proved when Barcelona wanted him last summer. Top clubs would have him in a second, because he is that good.”
Asked if he thought Ramsey would score more goals than Ozil in a central position, Bellamy continued: “Yes, he certainly would. He wants to score, always looks to break forward and is a good finisher as well.”.
Arsenal take on Olympiacos in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
