Crystal Palace star addresses Arsenal transfer speculation

James McArthur addresses reports linking the Crystal Palace midfielder with a surprise move to Arsenal

James McArthur says he is paying no attention to surprise speculation linking the Crystal Palace midfielder with an Arsenal transfer in January.

The Scotland international, who moved to Selhurst Park in 2013, has been in impressive form for Alan Pardew’s side in the Premier League this season.

McArthur’s performances for the Eagles prompted surprise talk of a bid from their north London rivals Arsenal in the January transfer window as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his depleted midfield.

While the former Wigan Athletic midfielder is flattered to be linked with a move to Emirates Stadium, McArthur downplayed the transfer speculation and reaffirmed his commitment to Palace.

“It’s nice of the manager to say – but I’m not going to listen to the rumours,” McArthur told Croydon Advertiser.

“I am just going to go about my job at Crystal Palace, because I am really enjoying my football.”

The reported Arsenal target has scored two goals and has made two assists in 16 Premier League games so far this season.

McArthur helped Palace ease to a 1-0 victory over Southampton at Selhurst Park in the Premier League last weekend.
