David De Gea: These Man United youngsters are the future
David De Gea has been thrilled to see some of the younger players make an impression at Manchester United
David De Gea believes that Manchester United’s young players such as Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Guillermo Varela represent the future of the club.
The duo have made their full debuts for Louis van Gaal’s men this season following the Red Devils’ latest spate of injuries.
The United boss has also been calling on the likes of Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira more regularly this term as the Dutchman gives United fans a glimpse of some of the young talent coming through at Old Trafford.
And Red Devils goalkeeper De Gea has stressed the importance of giving the youngsters a chance to impress – because they are likely to develop into key players in the seasons to come.
Asked about the likes of Borthwick-Jackson, Varela, Lingard and Pereira, De Gea told Inside United: “I think we have a very young side and I think that the youngsters who are coming up through the youth ranks are fitting in really well.
“They are all good players and after all they represent the future of Manchester United and I reckon that gradually they will become the side of the future and we’re all delighted that they’re with us.”
United are now gearing up for their Premier League clash with Norwich City at Old Trafford on Saturday as they look to return to winning ways after their loss to Bournemouth last weekend.
