David De Gea sends message to Man United fans

David De Gea is grateful to Manchester United fans for their consistent support

David De Gea has thanked Manchester United’s fans for their unwavering support after the uncertainty surrounding the goalkeeper’s future during the summer transfer window.

The Spanish shot-stopper was on the verge of joining Real Madrid on transfer deadline day but the move failed to materialise after the necessary paperwork was not submitted on time.

De Gea then opted to commit his future to United by signing a new contract until at least 2019 and made his first appearance of the season during the 3-1 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford.

And the goalkeeper admits that he was touched by the support the Manchester United faithful showed him following his collapsed transfer to the Spanish club.

De Gea told Inside United: “It was just incredible, the welcome that I received from all the Manchester United fans.

“It was a special game, a derby against Liverpool, so to have won at home, in that fantastic atmosphere, it was unforgettable! It was amazing.

“It’s difficult to be able to describe how I felt at that moment, even if I try to. I just want to thank all the fans for the support they’ve always given me since the first day I arrived here. It was just incredible.”
