Adnan Januzaj could be set for a transfer back to Manchester United from his loan spell early, according to reports

Adnan Januzaj has sparked reports linking him with a return to Manchester United in the January transfer window after he was pictured at Old Trafford watching Monday’s goalless draw with Chelsea.

The Belgium international was deemed to be surplus to requirements by Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal in the summer and was shipped out on loan to Borussia Dortmund for the 2015-16 season.

However, Januzaj has found his first-team opportunities in Germany limited so far this term and is yet to start a Bundesliga game for Dortmund. He has, though, made six appearances from the bench.

With United having been widely criticised for a lack of attacking spark in their recent eight-game winless run, it has been suggested in the British media that Van Gaal could be considering recalling Januzaj back from his loan spell early.

Now, that speculation is set to gather pace after he was snapped watching Monday’s game at Old Trafford.

United return to Premier League action with a home clash against Swansea City on Saturday.
