Emre Can has posted an apology on Instagram for Alberto Moreno after the Liverpool midfielder inadvertently chinned the Spanish star in their Boxing Day victory.

The Germany international could be forgiven for exuberantly celebrating Christian Benteke’s second-half winner in a 1-0 victory over Leicester City on Boxing Day which ended the Reds’s three-game winless run in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old leapt onto Benteke’s shoulders as the Liverpool players came together to celebrate with the towering Belgium striker in front of the home supporters at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.

But in his excitement, Can’s right foot caught Moreno in the face, much to the German’s amusement on Instagram as he posted a half-hearted apology for the Spain international.

Can posted the above photo and wrote on the photo-sharing app:

Liverpool hoisted themselves up to eighth place in the Premier League table following Benteke’s winner against Leicester.
